Accounting Policy Manager
This position assists with providing technical accounting advisory to internal stakeholders on various accounting issues, transactions and arrangements, as well as developing and maintaining the corporate accounting policy manual. This position also assists with the evaluation, interpretation and assessment of the impact of proposed and new accounting and reporting standards. This includes summarizing the accounting and reporting guidance and providing recommendations on how to implement the new standards including the appropriate accounting policy elections and practical expedients. Position Responsibilities: Perform technical accounting research, review/prepare documentation supporting accounting conclusions and provide recommendations for the appropriate accounting treatment for a variety of transactions. Assist in discussions with external auditors. Ensure that new accounting pronouncements proposed and issued by regulatory agencies and associations (FASB, SEC and IASB) are promptly identified and assessed for potential impact to the company. Assist with the implementation of relevant new pronouncements including preparation of status updates and impact assessment to be reported to Executive Management and Audit Committee. Participate in discussions of peer groups in the form of surveys/responses, conference calls and meetings regarding developing accounting matters. Assist with quarterly and annual projects (evaluation of goodwill, reviewing new contractual arrangements, peer review analysis, preparation of selected footnote disclosures, review of 10Q/10K filings, etc.). Preparation of materials to be used in internal and external education sessions on accounting topics covering accounting updates and SEC trends. Assist with various ad hoc projects. Prepare and review updates to the accounting policy manual. Review initial drafts of comment letters and other regulatory filings. CPE course material preparation, administration of courses to licensed staff, and maintenance of CPA Sponsor License requirements.
