Phlebotomist II
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II with experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and patient information updates. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner. Your role will involve demonstrating techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles, understanding physicians' orders, and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Responsibilities
Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. Understand and follow physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Ensure 100% accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature. Place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes and accurately label them. Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Work Environment
This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced outpatient lab within a major hospital in Boston. You will receive full training from experienced staff onsite, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. The work environment is primarily a lab setting. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
