The Mechanical Engineer in the Atmospheric Robotics function typically: Is a systems engineering design engineering authority for wafer handling robot subsystems within a variety of semiconductor equipment. Determines hardware and software requirements, performs detailed analysis, and defines working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Specifies, coordinates, and resolves interface issues between these various automation modules and subsystems such as material handling robotics, loadlocks, loadports, system control software, etc. Develops and executes robotics systems engineering projects of difficult scope under general direction. Translates internal customer needs into specific technical requirements for semiconductor wafer handling robot; analyzes, communicates, and negotiates requirements; manages product development to ensure OEM robot vendors meet specific requirements on time and at cost. Authors hardware and software specifications. Performs hardware and software testing to ensure robots meet agreed requirements, including hands-on work such as extensive hands-on testing, developing and running test programs and safely operating complex industrial equipment. Supports automation systems engineering projects that have a substantial mix of electrical, mechanical, and software design, and understand the underlying system implications. Leverages robotics subject matter expertise in performing systems engineering analyses in support of semiconductor equipment product development. Leverages robotics subject matter expertise and interpersonal skills to evaluate and negotiate requirements from internal and external customers with consideration for feasibility, technical risks, and operational factors. Manages projects consisting of software and mechanical scope to ensure OEM robot vendors meet specific requirements on time and at cost. Performs software and mechanical testing and qualification of OEM supplied robots. Designs and builds physical test stands and develops testing software in support of qualification activities. Maintains accountability for quality and reliability requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Drives closure of quality problems using structured methodologies. Evaluates mechanical, software, and electrical designs within material handling robots, and similar mechanisms, with respect to requirements. Leads system integration and troubleshooting of robotics & automation modules in application labs and NPI operations. Provides onsite support during startup of new equipment. The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
