Laboratory Technician - Automotive

Primary Responsibilities: Sample preparation and analysis following published test methods and company/client SOPs. Specifically These Responsibilities Are To: Organize test samples including seat belts and child restraint systems Prepare test specimens from the samples submitted using hand tools and power tools Perform both destructive and non-destructive physical testing on products including webbing, hardware, buckles and retractors Record test results in the format specified which includes handwritten datasheets, computer printouts and electronic data entry Routine operation, maintenance, and validation of laboratory equipment and instruments Assist in the investigation of, response to, and follow-up of client inquiries and complaints May assist in limited internal and external technical support to marketing, sales, customer services, and clients regarding test, report, and other technical information Coordinate with other laboratory technicians and/or assistants on sample receiving, logging, pretreatment, preparation, testing and other tasks Conduct multiple projects within tight deadlines Other projects and tasks assigned by company and supervisors Education: Prior laboratory experience or 2+ years towards engineering or science degree Skills/Competencies: Must be able to meet the following performance requirements: Familiarity with hand tools and power tools Ability to lift and move sample boxes up to 25 lbs Familiarity with Laboratory Quality and Operations systems Windows-based computer programs including MS Word, and Excel Effective understanding, written and verbal skills May work with limited guidance, independently or as part of a team. Takes initiative to learn and grow. Able to learn and apply new technologies and instruments Forklift certification desirable Pay Range is $21.00-$26.00/ hour
