Entry level opportunity to learn a skilled trade (Commercial Printing) while getting paid! Our Press Apprentices provides an accelerated training program that features progression steps of increasing skill level, responsibility and pay! Training may be completed in as few as 18

24 months, depending on the participants pace of progress. This is an opportunity to learn a Skilled Trade at no cost to you! Selected Apprentice will work 2nd or 3rd shift, start at $18/hour, +$1.75 shift differential. 3 Months Later

As you gain experience, you can promote to next level position (with additional pay increase) in your career path. Trainees will learn how to install plates and blankets on press cylinders, adjust press machine parts, delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, jogging devices, tapes, and cams, using hand tools. Trainees will also assist Press Operator with press make ready and perform manual and machine operator tasks in the set-up, maintenance, and operation of the printing press. Learn to prepare the press for a run by verifying job specs and setting up the press accordingly Learn to inspect the fountain solution, inking systems, paper and the press mechanisms Learn to monitors the flow of paper throughout the run, adding paper as necessary Learn to work in conjunction with the press operators and other assigned Press Assistants in the preventative maintenance of the presses. Learn to assist with some of the make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates, examining plates, prepping and installing blankets, etc Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies Mechanically inclined (worked on bicycles, motor cycles, cars, helped with home improvements) Ability to maintain good attendance (including reliable means of transportation) Ability to read and interpret documents to include job tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Skill to follow instructions to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product. Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, under the guidance of Press Operators. Must be willing to work overtime as needed. The rate of pay for this role at the noted RRD location is $18 / hour. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
