Job Summary
Reports To: Principal Salary: Based on salary schedule for 187 days. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Goal: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible members of society. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Possess a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) OR at least 9 credit hours of college coursework in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution. Possess appropriate experience (at least 12 months) working in early childhood or experience in other OSR approved settings. Must hold or obtain a valid substitute certificate. Must complete a criminal background check through the Alabama State Department of Education at your own expense. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in all areas of preschool instructional program. Provide assistance to students when arriving and departing. Assist lead teacher with preparing classroom equipment, materials and supplies. Assist in caring for and securing classroom equipment, materials and supplies. Conducts academic and social activities with individuals and small groups. Assist in preparing class displays and bulletin boards. Help students with toileting needs, feeding and other personal-care needs. Accompany students when transitioning from classroom to PE, lunch, library, computer, etc. Alerts lead teacher to any observed needs or concerns with individual students. Assist with classroom management. Assist with clerical work, including observing and recording behavior. Assist with clean-up of room and equipment at the end of the day. Maintain confidentiality with regard to student records and performance. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
