Assistant Principal

To serve as the professional assistant leader of the school. To work, under the direction of the principal, with staff, students, and community to ensure a high-quality educational program and to formulate and accomplish the school mission. To assist the principal in providing an environment of high expectations for staff and students. Reports To: Principal Supervises: Faculty, staff, and students as designated by the principal Term: 10 month contract with supplement Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Alabama certificate for superintendent or principal. Successful experience as a teacher. Supervisor or administer experience preferable. Other alternatives as approved by the Board. Performance Responsibilities: Assist in providing effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional program. Assist in interpreting and enforcing federal and state laws and state and local board policies. Assist the principal in personnel functions. Assist the principal in securing, maintaining, and managing material resources. Assist in preparing and administering the school budget and supervising school finances. Assist the principal in assuming responsibility for scheduling. Assist in ensuring that students receive appropriate placement and services. Plan and accomplish personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics. Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication. Assist in providing professional growth opportunities for staff. Assist in communicating and clarifying the school's mission to students, staff, and community. Assist in providing a safe, orderly environment that facilitates teaching and learning. Assist in providing a climate of high expectations for staff and students. Assist in other areas as assigned by principal and or superintendent.
