The Sr. Buyer creates and follows through on a merchandising assortment plan that supports financial and merchandising objectives. This position researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products with attention to the specific target market and demographics. The Sr. Buyer is skilled in maintaining relationships with vendors and can leverage those relationships to strengthen negotiation conversations. This position may lead a team of Buyers or work closely with Buyers to support the merchandising objectives they are responsible for. Responsibilities Lead and hold accountable Buyer team members to achieve goals within their assigned product departments Top line vendor negotiations; cost, payment terms, co-op money, returns/exchanges, freight/terms of delivery, opportunity buys Builds strong vendor relationships Competent in the complexity of business responsibilities assigned Completes a range of supply chain management tasks, including but not limited to critical analysis of operational sustainability needs, material planning within an ERP system Develop new categories, trends and exclusives Looks for new ways of doing things Maintain accountability for all inventory management Ensure vendor compliance with shipping and pricing policies Research and develop alternate supply sources Reviews development samples and approvals Skills and Knowledge Ability to lead others Ability to think strategically and to provide a clear path to achieving results Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of team Able to communicate with others in a clear and confident manner Creative and artistic capability with a keen eye for detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) suites and CAD programs Strong negotiation skills Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Management, or a similar field; minimum 5 years of previous buying experience; experience in both planning and allocating, preferably in apparel or accessories; advanced Excel experience required; minimum 3 years managing others preferred; sports enthusiast. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must be able to stand and walk; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; and differentiate colors. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items up to 25 lbs, and to walk short distances. $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 Annual
