Position Summary
Provides positive leadership, guidance, and proper supervision of campers ranging in age 5-15. Provide positive leadership, guidance, and proper and responsible supervision of 4-7 campers. Accountable for knowledge of whereabouts of each camper in group at all times. Coordinate, lead, supervise, and actively participate in group and program activities. Assist other counselors, and CIT's with input and leadership. Assist Upper Staff with leading small and large group activities. Encourage positive safety and health measures, and respect for YMCA property, equipment, and facilities. Maintain good public relations with parents of campers. Setting a good example for the campers, and conducting personal behavior with campers in mind. Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years of age and have completed 10th grade. Must be certified in First Aid and CPR. Must attend all pre-camp training, retreats, and opening training session. Possess leadership qualities and ability to use sound judgment. Relate to one's peers and supervisors in a work setting. Good health, enthusiasm, individual maturity, moral character, team qualities, and communication skills. Possess interest in the development of children. Must be able to endure hot temperatures, physical exertion, manual labor, behavioral conflicts, and must be able to walk, run, and swim every day. Must be able to handle, control, and assist 4-7 campers in a cabin daily and teach various classes. Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position to safely supervise children's activities.
