Design Lead

Actalent Services is hiring a Design Lead with strong mechanical engineering experience designing custom automation and robotic equipment across multiple manufacturing industries for a full-time role offering career growth. This individual will align closely with Actalent's delivery leadership in our global Manufacturing Engineering Practice and serve as an industry subject-matter-expert as Actalent continues to grow its machine design capabilities across multiple industry verticals. Success in this role requires an individual able to lead new small/midsize design projects for custom automation equipment and also lead team members and projects for larger-scale engagements. Preferred candidates will possess project/design lead experience with 5 years of experience within the automation solutions industry and have career ambition to progress into Engineering Project or Program Management. This position requires minimal travel (10%) and offers hybrid flexibility to candidates local to Actalent engineering centers in Louisville KY, Troy MI or Fort Worth TX. Essential Functions

Design and development of custom automation and machinery systems. Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met. Create detailed design drawings and specifications using advanced CAD software. Oversee the physical build and commissioning of designs, ensuring quality and functionality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize design and manufacturing processes. Conduct design reviews and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new designs. Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance. Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Troubleshoot design issues during the production phase and implement improvements. Travel as necessary to support customer meetings as well as attend internal meetings. Required Experience, Abilities and Skills

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or related engineering discipline preferred. Minimum 5 years of professional experience designing custom automation and machinery. Experience in design and/or commissioning of high-speed automation equipment highly desired. Experience in working in multiple industries including consumer products, industrial products, aerospace defense, automotive and/or medical devices. Strong technical skills with a track record of successful project delivery & team management Proficiency in CAD software and proven design capabilities. Hands-on experience in the physical build and commissioning of designs of custom machinery. Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively and lead dispersed teams with diverse technical skillsets. Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate to customer stakeholders. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to travel occasionally as needed; up to 10%. Must be U.S. Person with ability to obtain secret clearance. Highly proficient in PC applications - MS Office suite of tools. Compensation And Benefits Information

$100,000-$115,000 starting base salary, annual performance bonus potential, 4 weeks paid time-off, 6 paid holidays, medical/dental/vision benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $115000.00/yr. 4 Weeks Paid Time-Off, 6 Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental & Vision Benefits Workplace Type
