Manages certain orthotic patient care as approved by the American Board for Certification and consistent with the Pennsylvania Practice Act including patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up, and practice management of certain orthoses as specified in ABC's Scope of Practice. Job Duties
Performs a comprehensive assessment of the patient including their functional baseline to understand the patient's orthotic needs, goals, and expectations. Analyzes and integrates information from patient assessment to create a comprehensive orthotic/prosthetic treatment/care plan to meet the needs, goals, and expectations of the patient. Performs/directs all procedures necessary, including fabrication, to provide the comprehensive orthotic treatment/care. Adheres to policies and procedures regarding human resources, physical environment, business and financial practices, reimbursement requirements, and organizational management. Maintains/orders inventory as delegated by management. Participates in personal professional development through continuing education, professional training, and when appropriate, research and volunteering for professional organizations. Provides continuing patient care through periodic evaluation to ensure, maintain, and document optimal fit and function of the orthosis. Assists with shipping and receiving as delegated by management. Provides supervision to technicians. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED - Graduate of an ABC approved education program and at least board eligible for certification as an Orthotic Fitter. Orthotic Fitter License - State of Pennsylvania and CFO - Certified Fitter of Orthotics - American Board for Certification (ABC) or COF - Certified Orthotic Fitter - Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
