Deputy Design Manager
to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work on the country's premier infrastructure project and enjoy all the benefits of working for Parsons. The program is the most urgent infrastructure initiative in the country—a comprehensive set of rail investments to improve commuter and intercity services, enhance resiliency, and eventually create new capacity between Newark, NJ, and NYC. Program background: The Gateway Program is a critical infrastructure project involving rail investments to improve services and capacity between Newark, New Jersey, and New York City, the busiest section of the Northeast Corridor. The first phase includes the Hudson Tunnel Project, involving construction of a new tunnel under the Hudson River and rehabilitation of the existing North River Tunnel. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) oversees this project, with Parsons as a tri-venture partner providing strategic advisory, project management, design, and construction support. Key Responsibilities: Assist in overseeing the design team and coordinating design activities for Heavy Commuter Rail Systems. Manage the design process, including planning, development, and reviews. Ensure design deliverables meet project requirements, standards, and client expectations. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate design elements and resolve technical challenges. Review drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance. Support value engineering, design optimization, and innovation; coordinate with construction teams for seamless transition from design to construction. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred. 15+ years of relevant experience, including supervisory roles. PE license or equivalent certification. Extensive experience in design management, especially on tunneling or underground construction projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bentley software suites. Strong project management, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Security Clearance Requirement: None. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team, dedicated to designing and delivering vital infrastructure that connects and protects communities worldwide.
