HDR is seeking a national business class lead (BCL) for our fisheries facilities design group within the Water Business Group. The BCL will collaborate with the Fisheries Business Class Director, peers, and HDR teams to oversee fisheries facilities design projects across the US and Canada. This technical leadership role involves developing and coordinating design standards, ensuring quality assurance, mentoring staff, and managing project execution for fish hatcheries and aquaculture systems. Experience in designing upstream/downstream fish collection facilities, fish passage, water treatment, and related infrastructure is desirable. Candidates with backgrounds in water systems, pump stations, or water resource projects are also encouraged to apply. Your Role includes: Leading business development efforts by engaging with clients, preparing proposals, and strategic planning. Reviewing marketing proposals, technical scopes, and fee estimates for fisheries projects. Managing design center functions, staff assignments, and interdepartmental interactions. Leading quality control and standards development for fish hatchery design, including BIM implementation. Ensuring project success from inception through delivery, while expanding technical expertise. Qualifications include: 15+ years in engineering design related to fish hatcheries, aquaculture, or water systems. PE licensure and NCEES registration. Experience in developing plans and specifications for construction and bidding. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and BIM software (Revit, Civil 3D). Master’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
