Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time Driver to join our team. This position will be based out of our Church Avenue Brooklyn site but will require travel as needed throughout Brooklyn and Queens.
The Driver provides van services in the transportation of supplies, equipment, residents, clients and staff associated with Brightpoint Health and affiliated agencies. This position reports to the Fleet Manager mechanical needs for the maintenance of facility vehicles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Driver: Performs necessary pickups and drop offs of supplies, residents, clients and staff associated with project Samaritan AIDS Services and affiliated agencies. Fills out safety checklists and trip report log daily. Maintains a log indicating date, time, starting mileage, destination, and arrival time and end mileage for every trip during their tour of duty. Checks to ensure that the safety equipment (First aid kit, Blanket, Safety Triangle, Fire Extinguisher, Booster Cables and related Equipment) is in the van to starting his or her dispatch. Easy Passes should be signed out and back in after each use when anticipating crossing bridges. Walkie Talkies must be charged at the end of the shift. Monitors the periodic maintenance of vans for oil changes, tire rotation, engine tune-ups and small repairs. Maintain vehicle with fuel, lubricants and other accessories needed for normal daily operation. He must report all needs for repairs to the Director of Support Services. Inspects all vans on a daily basis for body damages. Is responsible for the safety of their passengers. Every passenger is required to wear a Seat Belt. It is the drivers responsibility to ensure that this is done prior to driving off. Drivers will assist, where appropriate and safe, passengers in and out of the vehicle. Receives instruction from the Fleet Manager to ensure all agency transportation needs are met, inclusive of moving furniture, supplies, equipment, residents, clients and personnel. Communicates with other drivers and the Fleet Manager to maximize productivity. Any unfinished trips or pickups must be reported to the Fleet Manager or Director prior to the end of the work shift. Maintain vehicles clean on a daily basis and washed a weekly basis. Assists in filing out accident reports, disputing summonses and acquiring new Parking Permits. Maintain good personal hygiene and clean dress attire suitable for the position. Is responsible for any summonses received. Drivers will ensure that vans are parked legally at all times and must report all summonses received at the end of their work shift to the Vice President of Support Services. Maintain strict confidentiality of all client care information to ensure residents and clients are protected. Attends all mandatory in-services including Fire Safety, Infection Control, Confidentiality and other related in-services. Performs other required duties, both related and unrelated to essential duties and responsibilities
Minimum Education Requirement : High School diploma/GED
Must be willing to undergo drivers license check. Clean driving record - Class C Drivers license with a passenger endorsement required.
Minimum Work Related Experience : 2-4 years
