RNs attend high-risk deliveries, so DR experience a plus. RNs draw labs. We have Centralized Milk Handling (feeds are prepared for you); assignments are generally pretty generous to allow for parent interaction and teaching. Use of Bubble CPAP preferred; we take great care to preserve lung tidal volumes and pt skin r/t long term use of CPAP. We use a lot of PICC lines. Regular use of cue-based or infant driven feeds preferred. Our unit focuses on optimal developmental support. Our unit culture is very team oriented and supportive. We have a core group of Neos that are great to work with. We are a community-based hospital and not a tertiary/quaternary hospital. We are a smaller team so more relational. We are about 20 minutes to the ocean and have many fun things to do in South Orange County! Level III - Premature, respiratory distress, multiples common, LPI, ELBW, hypoglycemic, sepsis, occ. surgeries. Acuity can range from very acute to feeder/grower and lacks any pattern. Need to be comfortable with RSI and potential codes. Census swings fr.5 to 20. 90% admits from L&D in the adult hospital we rent a floor from; about 5% of pts come from home, MD office or ED Travel Experience Required:
