We are seeking to hire a dynamic and experienced Sommelier to join our award winning hospitality team.

Marking Chef Shaun Hergatt's highly-anticipated return to the NYC restaurant scene, Vestry is a One-Michelin Starred dinner destination.

Marrying raw and refined ingredients, the restaurant will offer an inventive menu of seasonally-driven dishes infused with global techniques and ingredients, with an emphasis on seafood and vegetable dishes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist guests with wine and sake selections, making appropriate recommendations based on their preferences and budget
  • Assist in the development of training programs for fellow staff members and participate in their education
  • Participate in weekly/monthly inventory
  • Budgeting/P&L Performance
  • Stocking and maintaining all storage and service areas
  • A commitment to excellence
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • A passion for food, wine and service and the ability to convey that to our guests and colleagues
  • Participate in all facets of service to ensure that our guests are taken care of to our utmost ability
  • Perform all other duties as instructed by management

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a wine focused role in a fine dining restaurant, Michelin starred preferred
  • Wine certification from an accredited wine institution preferred
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of proper wine service techniques, optimal serving temperatures, glassware and decanting
  • Availability to works nights, weekends and holidays
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to excellence
