Overview
The Catering and Events Sales Manager plays a key role in supporting the execution of Sightglass LA’s catering and private events programs, with a focus on operational coordination, client communication, and cross-functional collaboration between front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) teams.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in hospitality, a working knowledge of culinary operations, and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences. They will support the planning and execution of both on and off-site events, maintain and grow relationships with clients and community partners, and help activate Sightglass' unique offerings through thoughtful, organized events.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and pursue new catering and events business through outbound sales efforts (e.g. cold outreach, networking, prospecting).
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of potential clients including corporate offices, production studios, local businesses, and event planners.
  • Develop and deliver customized catering proposals and presentations that reflect client needs and brand standards.
  • Attend industry mixers, networking events, and community gatherings to generate leads and build relationships.
  • Establish referral partnerships with vendors, venues, and creative collaborators to drive inbound opportunities.
  • Track sales outreach activity and conversion metrics to inform strategy and prioritize efforts.
  • Coordinate logistics for small to mid-sized catering orders and private events.
  • Meet with clients to confirm event details and provide timely, professional communication.
  • Prepare event materials including run-of-show, menu signage, and packing lists.
  • Track orders and maintain client records to support repeat business and relationship growth.
  • Support setup, service, and breakdown of events as needed.
  • Ensure the guest experience is aligned with Sightglass standards.
  • Communicate real-time updates to BOH/FOH teams to maintain service flow.
  • Work alongside kitchen and FOH teams to ensure accurate prep, service timing, and smooth execution.
  • Help identify and coordinate local collaborations, popups, and in-store activations.
  • Support the planning calendar for community-facing events, ensuring alignment with operational needs.
  • Build relationships with local vendors, creatives, and community partners.
  • Capture photo/video content from events, popups, and behind-the-scenes kitchen activity.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to deliver assets for brand-aligned storytelling.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in catering sales, event planning, or food & beverage experience; sales or client-facing experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to generate leads, build relationships, and close deals. Experience in outbound sales or business development is a strong plus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage details while seeing the big picture.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with both FOH and BOH teams; culinary knowledge or experience is a plus.
  • Skilled at balancing multiple priorities and maintaining composure in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • A guest-first mindset and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality, events, and community connection.
  • Proficient in Google Suite; familiarity with POS systems, CRMs (like HubSpot), and basic project management tools preferred.

  • Compensation: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The hourly rate for this role is $30-32 per hour, depending on experience. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a monthly sales commission based on catering and events sales performance, as outlined in the company’s Catering & Events Commission Plan.
