Join our dynamic team as a Network Systems Engineer, where you'll play an essential role in the design, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of cutting-edge enterprise network environments. In this position, you'll ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity across our organization while working closely with cybersecurity, systems, and application teams. Your expertise will be vital in resolving complex network incidents and outages at a Tier 3 level.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administer, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools across various network environments.
Design and implement robust and secure network architectures that incorporate segmentation, redundancy, and failover strategies.
Monitor network performance, analyze usage trends, and propose improvements to enhance throughput and reliability.
Manage IP address allocation, DNS, DHCP, and VLAN configurations across the enterprise.
Ensure compliance with strict network security protocols, including DoD STIGs and RMF.
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, topologies, procedures, and baselines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network infrastructure seamlessly with broader IT and cybersecurity systems.
Support continuity of operations (COOP) and disaster recovery (DR) initiatives.
Participate in the patch management processes and network modernization efforts.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support staff while contributing to internal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
Strong hands-on experience in network engineering, including planning, designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructures.
Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
Solid understanding and operational experience with routing and switching technologies and protocols.
Experience managing networking hardware, including routers, switches, and load balancers.
Practical experience in network administration and security best practices.
Ability to manage and configure firewalls and perimeter security devices.
Familiarity with load balancer setup and management to optimize traffic distribution.
Strong troubleshooting acumen with the ability to resolve complex network issues efficiently.
Experience in network monitoring, testing, and performance optimization.
Ability to work independently and lead small projects, including mentoring junior technical staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating with cross-functional and client-facing teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or Security+ are a plus.
Experience with network design and implementation in federal, DoD, or other regulated environments.
Familiarity with network accreditation processes like RMF, STIGs, and DoD 8500 series compliance.
Experience evaluating and recommending new networking technologies and tools.
Proficiency in scripting or automation for network configuration and monitoring (e.g., Python, Ansible).
Knowledge of COOP/DR (Continuity of Operations/Disaster Recovery) networking considerations.
Familiarity with SDN (Software Defined Networking) or cloud-based networking environments (e.g., AWS VPCs, Azure Networking).
Experience documenting network architectures, diagrams, procedures, and operational baselines.
