We Should Talk! As a
Behavior Intervention Specialist , you will lead our school-wide implementation of a positive behavior support program aimed at improving student behaviors in
Elementary School . Your primary focus will be on proactive strategies to mitigate challenging behaviors and responding effectively to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and behavioral intervention strategies as outlined in students’ behavior plans. Your Responsibilities Include: Implementing individualized, group, and system-wide interventions to promote positive academic, social-emotional, and behavioral outcomes for students. Reinforcing positive student behavior, redirecting negative actions, and demonstrating effective strategies for staff. Maintaining detailed records of student behavior strategies and intervention plans. Collecting and analyzing behavioral data to monitor student progress and inform instructional practices in collaboration with IEP teams. Providing guidance to classroom staff to effectively manage student behaviors and maintain effective class-wide behavior systems. Applying principles of applied behavior analysis under supervision to address and improve student outcomes. Conducting behavioral observations to aid in developing functional behavior assessments and individualized intervention plans. Supporting teachers in instructional activities, student supervision, and classroom management. Responding to crisis situations with effective de-escalation techniques, ensuring the safety of all participants. Documenting behavioral incidents thoroughly while upholding confidentiality and compliance with policies. Adhering to safety protocols, including CPR and First Aid procedures. Participating actively in team meetings and professional development to stay updated on best practices and policies. Supervising students during school-related activities as needed. Providing direct support at multiple site locations as requested. Taking on additional projects to foster program excellence and organizational improvement. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent with basic skills test completion. Associate's degree or higher in a related field is preferred. In process of obtaining or currently holding a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential is preferred. Ability to maintain certification in crisis management training. Prior experience working with children in special education or behavioral health settings. Experience with individuals having severe learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. Familiarity with positive behavior intervention, functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans preferred. Ability to think and act swiftly in emergencies and make independent decisions. Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
