General Summary of Position Join MedStar Ambulatory Services as a CPC Certified Coder! We are looking for candidates with 1-2 years of coding experience to become part of our dynamic team. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule after the successful completion of the 90-day probationary period. Initially, you will work on-site, and after that, you will enjoy remote work on Mondays and Fridays, while being in the office from Tuesday to Thursday. Our business office is located at Elkridge, MD, and will be relocating to Columbia, MD. Job Summary As a Coding Specialist I, you will code and abstract services provided in our Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) using CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and other classification systems. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Support the achievement of department goals and objectives while adhering to policies, procedures, and quality standards. Ensure the accuracy of diagnoses, procedure codes, patient demographics, and all required data elements. Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and complete annual compliance education. Engage in continuing education to enhance job skills and maintain required credentials. Communicate with physicians to clarify any conflicting or ambiguous information in the medical records. Meet established quality and productivity standards as set by departmental policies. Timely resolve quality reviews, including medical necessity reviews and coding quality assurance reviews. Review medical records to accurately identify and code diagnoses and procedures, assigning correct codes and modifiers according to guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of related work equipment. Minimum Qualifications Education:

High School Diploma or GED required; courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, ICD-CM CPT-4 required; an associate degree or bachelor’s degree in coding-related studies is preferred. Experience:

1-2 years of coding experience, with familiarity in clinical information systems (3M grouper, electronic medical records, computer-assisted coding) preferred. Licenses and Certifications:

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer skills. This position offers a competitive hiring range of $23.19 - $40.61.
