Job Description
The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is responsible for cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures with continuous telemetry monitoring and limited critical infusions. The CDU RN develops, implements, and evaluates a plan of patient care utilizing ANA Standards and the Nursing Process. The CDU RN acts as a patient advocate, providing support, information, and direct care. This position requires skill in utilizing equipment and technology and technical competence in nursing procedures. The Registered Nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues. Inventory, distribution, and delivery of medications may be required.
Critical Information
Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of permanent residency. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment. NIH Stroke Scale Certification will be obtained during orientation.
Education/Licenses Needed
Active nurse license required. BSN preferred or a commitment to obtain it within 3 years of hire date.
