Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Project Coordinator I for the NJ-Travel Independence Program.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

Develops and executes original project plans, schedules, outreach and training efforts, evaluation, and protocols to ensure successful completion of assigned projects. Oversees training and outreach activities related to these projects. Performs both quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis. Reinforces existing client/sponsor relationships and relationships with external constituents. Completes work independently within broadly defined work objectives and with limited review of overall results. Maintains timely, accurate, and comprehensive written and verbal communication with supervisors and co-workers.

Work Arrangement Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in travel instruction (or a closely related discipline). Demonstrated expertise in the use and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, and terminology related to designing and delivering safe, effective travel training for individuals with disabilities and other transportation-disadvantaged populations.

Certifications/Licenses

A valid driver's license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Comprehensive understanding of accessible public transportation, transition services for students with special needs, and human service delivery systems throughout NJ. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently. Computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in the field of travel instruction (or a closely related discipline). Knowledge of mobile technology for communicating with transit agencies; for trip planning and travel emergencies; and for tracking trip progress and customer safety. Knowledge of the evolving use of accessible virtual technology, particularly for use in webinars, remote instruction, and with a range of interactive teaching platforms (Zoom, Webex, Teams, Google Meet, etc.), for use in online training approaches. Expertise with effectively communicating with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, students on the autism spectrum, and those with other cognitive and communication impairments.

Equipment Utilized

Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ability to walk up to 2 miles as needed for trainings and route checks. Ability to move supplies and NJTIP marketing materials on various projects to events. Work activities will be performed both in an office setting and in the field, including traveling statewide both by automobile and on public transportation, as a pedestrian in communities served by public transit, working in classrooms, and community-based organizations. A significant portion of work can be delivered online, and may be remote, based on the preference of trainees and sponsors, and University policy. Special Conditions
