Position Summary:
The
Cath Lab Charge Technologist
is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and clinical workflow of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This position serves as a working technologist while coordinating staff assignments, ensuring high-quality patient care, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting physicians during invasive cardiovascular procedures. The Charge Tech serves as a liaison between staff, physicians, and leadership to ensure the Cath Lab functions efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily workflow and case assignments in the Cath Lab to ensure appropriate coverage and efficiency. Serve as a primary technologist in cardiac and vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures. Monitor patient care activities to ensure safe practices and high-quality outcomes. Assist in the orientation, mentoring, and clinical development of new staff and students. Act as a point of contact for physicians during procedures, facilitating seamless communication. Ensure proper functioning of equipment and coordinate with biomedical engineering as needed. Maintain inventory of supplies and coordinate with purchasing to ensure adequate stock. Participate in performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives. Collaborate with leadership on scheduling, staffing, and performance evaluations. Uphold infection control, radiation safety, and patient confidentiality standards. Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field. Registered with ARRT (RT(R)) or RCIS certification required. State licensure (if applicable). BLS and ACLS certifications required. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab environment. Prior leadership or charge experience preferred. Skills & Abilities:
Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations. Proficient in hemodynamic monitoring, sterile technique, and cath lab equipment. Knowledge of EMR systems and procedural documentation requirements. Working Conditions:
Exposure to radiation, infectious materials, and bodily fluids. May be required to take on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Frequent standing, walking, and lifting in a clinical setting.
