JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant Level II is vital in supporting the clinical lab's operations through efficient data entry, specimen handling, and preparation for testing. This role involves centrifuging, preparing peripheral smears using automated methods, and assisting Clinical Supervisors/Managers with daily laboratory functions. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Specimen Management:

Receive and manage FastTrack specimens, ensuring productivity metrics are met. Instrumentation:

Load and unload specimens onto automated analyzers while complying with state guidelines. Data Accuracy:

Produce reliable data for waived testing and interpret results as necessary. Maintenance:

Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on automated lines, including Hematology, Urines, Chemistry, and Microbiology. Sample Preparation:

Inoculate and prepare specimens for testing effectively. Pending Logs:

Maintain clinical pending specimen logs and ensure the physical retrieval of missing specimens. Specimen Registration:

Understand and utilize specimen registration (accessioning) processes efficiently. Specialty Specimens:

Handle specialty specimens, print labels, and prepare paperwork for add-on and reference testing. Client Interaction:

Collect and relay information about client inquiries to Client Services Representatives and manage inbound calls professionally. Clerical Duties:

Perform filing, inventory management, and mail distribution. Data Entry:

Capture patient demographic information accurately and perform imaging tasks as assigned. Safety Compliance:

Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and follow procedures as outlined in manuals. Regulatory Protection:

Uphold security practices to protect sensitive health information and comply with corporate policies. EDUCATION & LICENSURE: High School Diploma or GED is required. An Associate's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred. Prior knowledge of laboratory testing and specimen processing is advantageous. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. A strong aptitude for pattern recognition is critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
