$61,111.00/yr - $124,443.00/yr Overview

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) offers a career in law enforcement to work with a highly trained team dedicated to protecting America. As a CBPO, you will be part of the Department of Homeland Security workforce, safeguarding borders, deterring illicit activity, and supporting economic prosperity. Typical Responsibilities

Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws. Facilitate legitimate trade and travel. Inspect individuals and conveyances. Determine admissibility of individuals entering the U.S. Prevent illegal entry and smuggling of prohibited goods. Duty Locations

Locations include Nogales, San Luis, Calexico, Los Angeles, Otay Mesa, San Francisco, San Ysidro, Tecate, Washington, DC, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Guam, Honolulu, Chicago, and several others. Incentives are available for some locations. Salary and Benefits

Starting salary varies by location and experience, with potential for overtime pay. Promotions are possible after 52 weeks in each grade level. Benefits include health, dental, insurance, leave, and retirement plans. Location Incentives

Additional incentives of 10%-25% of salary are available for certain locations during the first three to four years of employment. Qualifications

Qualify at GS-9 level through experience, education, or a combination. Experience includes law enforcement duties such as detention, enforcement of import/export laws, threat assessments, and interviews. Education options include a master's degree or higher, or a combination of experience and education. Other Requirements
