Designs visual communications for the Town of Wake Forest and its various departments.

Distinguishing Features of the Class

An employee in this class is responsible for designing graphics that align with the Town’s branding and marketing strategies. Work includes developing, designing, and producing printed and digital informational, promotional, and educational pieces. Work requires considerable attention to detail and a high level of creative ability. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Graphics Manager. This is a remote/hybrid position. Primary duties are performed remotely. The employee attends regular meetings in person at Town Hall and other Town facilities as needed.

Anticipated Selection Process

Department Interview - Week of August 24, 2025 (Candidates invited to interview will be required to submit an electronic portfolio). Panel Interview - Week of August 21, 2025 Anticipated onboarding - September 29, 2025, or October 13, 2025.

Essential Functions

Essential Duties and Tasks

Creates graphics for a wide range of Town programs, services, and events. Collaborates with various Town departments to develop concepts for digital and print materials including logos, brochures, banners, posters, forms, signs, infographics, ads, social media, and other collateral. Manages projects through concept, revision, approval, and completion; collaborates with print vendors when needed to ensure quality is met. Works with town staff to develop visual concepts for a wide range of print and digital graphics. Develops templates to facilitate and ensure on-brand communications. Assists with producing content for materials. Assists with maintaining and sharing the Town's graphic assets. Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of graphic design and marketing; Considerable skill in graphic design and proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; basic understanding of PowerPoint and Canva is a plus; Ability to take complex information and make it clear and visually compelling through the effective use of graphic design; Demonstrated skill in written composition and ability to proof and edit effectively; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines; Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and with changing levels of priority; Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; General knowledge of the policies, procedures, philosophies, and goals of the Town.

Desirable Education And Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college program in graphic design or related field and considerable experience working in graphic design.

Special Requirement

Possession of valid NC driver's license.

Physical Requirements

Work in this class is light. Work requires an employee to be able to communicate orally and in writing, therefore an employee must be able to hear and talk. An employee must also have the visual acuity necessary to see handwritten and typewritten materials, view a computer screen, and review materials developed
