The Software Engineer IV (Electronics) develops embedded microcontroller software for HVAC and water heating products, covering requirements, design, qualification, and lifecycle support. This role is key within Rheem's Advanced Technology Integration organization, providing advanced system solutions across our Water Heating, Air Conditioning, and Raypak units.

Indianapolis, IN, or Roswell, GA (Hybrid) . Responsibilities include: Collaborate with engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and other teams to gather controls requirements. Work with Lead Software and Systems Architects to develop and extend software architecture. Develop embedded application software, adhering to team standards. Conduct thorough self-reviews and testing of software. Support software validation in product applications, resolving anomalies. Coordinate with contract manufacturers and service teams on software implementation and validation. Develop tools for various platforms used in development, testing, and manufacturing. Engage with cross-functional teams to translate concepts into applications. Design and implement performance and qualification tests, analyze results. Lead and participate in design reviews and related analyses. Prepare and review requirements, design, and qualification documentation. Continuously develop professional skills. Represent Rheem in technical societies and stay informed on industry developments. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related. 7+ years in IT or engineering fields. 7+ years of C/C++ experience in real-time embedded systems. Innovative, creative problem-solver. Experience developing production software for embedded microcontrollers in assembly and C. Expertise in assembly and C programming. Knowledge of communication protocols (wired, wireless, CAN, BACNet, Modbus, TCP/IP). Experience with serial communications (I2C, UART, SPI, Modbus). Familiarity with microcontrollers like Renesas, STMicro, Cypress. Experience with Secure Boot, X509, TLS, Encrypted File Systems. Ability to present technical information effectively. Proven collaboration across departments and with external partners. Knowledge of test-driven design and automation. Understanding of product design, failure analysis, and statistical methods. Proficient in Microsoft Office and version control tools like Git. Knowledge of UL 60730 standards and control system design with PID control.
