Genesco . Position Overview The Director of Product Development is responsible for executing technical development related to last/outsole development and construction. This includes addressing technical issues during development and commercialization, such as Fit and Confirmation Sample approval. The role involves direct communication with manufacturing partners to ensure the timely delivery of footwear that meets GBG (Genesco Brands Group) quality standards. Key Responsibilities Participate in seasonal concept reviews, design presentations, line finals, and customer pre-line meetings. Lead the development team to create and commercialize products aligned with product briefs and brand vision. Maintain relationships with design, merchandising, and manufacturing partners to sustain competitive advantage and open communication. Assist the design team in delivering accurate samples by evaluating patterns, lasts, and reviewing technical blueprints. Collaborate with GBG sourcing to identify and develop new factories. Manage the Confirmation Sample process to ensure production within tolerances. Travel to manufacturing and development locations to oversee execution stages. Work with manufacturing partners on new constructions and technologies suitable for Wrangler footwear. Participate in seasonal pricing reviews and ensure margin targets are met. Complete PIM records for seasonal handoff to Sourcing and Commercialization. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 10+ years in footwear product development, commercialization, or quality control; safety and western footwear experience is a plus. Broad knowledge of footwear development and manufacturing processes, including direct attach, Goodyear welt, and waterproof constructions. Highly organized with adaptability to changing priorities. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to develop global manufacturing partnerships. Willingness to travel seasonally, including overseas. Additional Details
