Sr. Network Architect

Job Description We are seeking a senior network architect or network engineer with experience in both ISP access and carrier backbone technologies, including software support systems. The ideal candidate has played a key role in designing, planning, and implementing Layer 2 and Layer 3 ISP/carrier networks. Extensive experience supporting internal teams and external customers is essential. The candidate should view network outages and problem-solving as opportunities for improvement, be passionate about networking, eager to learn new technologies, and have a track record of expanding their skills beyond their current expertise. Mentoring and training junior team members is highly valued. Responsibilities Contribute immediately to Wyyerd’s existing network deployments. Design and support expanding networks and customer base. Provide guidance on network integration, expansion, and improvements with emerging technologies in mind. Create and refine network processes and procedures. Evaluate and define product offerings and technical capabilities. Participate in on-call support schedules. Collaborate with and mentor team members, and develop best practices to enhance expertise. Experience/Qualifications Expertise in Carrier/ISP Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, including L2VPN, L3VPN, MEF standards (EPL, EVPL, ELINE, ELAN, L2PT), RFC2544, and Y.1731. Deep knowledge of Routing and Switching, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, SR-MPLS, SRv6, VPN, IPv6. Extensive experience with ISP access and carrier backbone technologies and products. Understanding of network monitoring, alarming, data collection, and archiving. Experience supporting Network Operations Centers (NOC) processes, procedures, and best practices. Knowledge of network OSS systems such as NMS (LibreNMS), DHCP (ISC), DNS, SNMP. Familiarity with Linux, Cloud (AWS), Python scripting, automation, and NetOps is a plus. Preferred candidates will have experience with Juniper, Ciena, Calix, and certifications like JNCIP, CCNP, or higher. Strong curiosity and desire to learn about core network responsibilities, Wyyerd’s business, and culture.
