AMD's Data Center GPU organization is transforming the industry with our AI based Graphic Processors. Our primary objective is to design exceptional products that drive the evolution of computing experiences, serving as the cornerstone for enterprise Data Centers, (AI) Artificial Intelligence, HPC and Embedded systems. The Role
In this role you will be responsible for creating solutions to the most challenging performance problems that AMD’s customers face in deploying cutting edge AI and HPC workloads on MI GPUs. You will understand the customer’s performance requirements, find solutions to their problems, and get those solutions implemented, ensuring AMD’s MI GPUs exceed the customer’s performance expectations.
The Person
Passionate about solving real-world datacenter GPU performance problems. You like to get your hands dirty solving actual performance problems in massive deployments of datacenter GPUs. The successful candidate for this role loves performance optimization and the challenge of unsolved problems, they are a precise and able communicator, effective influencer, and an expert at low-level machine learning workload performance.
Key Responsibilities
Represent AMD in technical performance discussions with customers who are creating large scale datacenter GPU deployments. Gather customer performance requirements, use these requirements to drive prioritization and strategic direction of AMD’s performance engineering activities. Analyze, debug and root cause the most difficult customer performance problems that no one else can solve. Use your understanding of customer priorities together with your machine learning workload expertise to prioritize the performance engineering work across multiple technical teams. Provide guidance and oversight to multiple teams of engineers to solve a diverse array of time-bound technical problems across all aspects of the systems being deployed. Drive analysis and optimization of key machine learning workloads based on customer feedback. Identify competitive performance gaps and drive solutions by working with architects and engineers across all domains of the product including hardware, software, and firmware. Use your machine learning expertise to identify strategic domains of focus that will lead to competitive performance advantages for AMD’s graphics products and work across engineering domains to drive these solutions into products.
Preferred Experience
Experience working directly with companies creating large scale datacenter GPU deployments. Machine learning workload expert GPU performance expert Demonstrated effective communication skills
Academic Credentials
Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field
Masters or PhD with emphasis on Computer Architecture performance studies preferred
