Program Manager, Throughput Location:
Lake Forest, IL Base Salary:
$129,501.00 - $137,820.80 per year (reflects annualized salary based on hourly rate) Responsibilities: Lead efforts to improve patient throughput across the health system. Manage a portfolio of throughput-related initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Provide guidance, leadership, support, and coaching to throughput departments. Monitor and report on performance metrics such as access times, escort trip times, and room turnover. Lead projects to identify drivers of poor performance and implement data-driven improvements. Support organizational managers and directors with throughput-related needs. Conduct simulations, analyze data, and benchmark against industry standards to understand bed needs and improve ED operations. Create dashboards for monitoring census dynamics to inform resource allocation. Plan proactively for capacity needs, including managing overflow capacity and acquiring beds. Facilitate communication and planning with clinical teams to ensure seamless operations. This position supervises a Patient Throughput Expediter. Qualifications Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field, or foreign equivalent, with 5 years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree in the same fields, with 3 years of relevant experience. Additional skills include: 3 years of project management experience in multidisciplinary teams. Experience with operations and capacity optimization strategies. Proficiency with analytical and simulation software such as SIMIO, R, Minitab, and Excel. Effective use of statistical tools for process improvements. Ability to align project goals with business objectives and deliver results under pressure. Experience with patient throughput process improvements in healthcare.
