The City of San Marcos is recruiting for a qualified Principal Civil Engineer to lead the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Engineering Division of the Development Services Department

Your Day-to-Day
Lead a team of engineers Manage a $200M+ capital program Oversee your projects from start to finish Plan and deliver new infrastructure Innovate project delivery methods Provide expertise to solve engineering challenges Influence the Future of San Marcos
Lead the City’s capital projects, shaping San Marcos’ development. With upcoming projects supported by Measure Q, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining infrastructure that benefits the community. Our supportive environment encourages collaboration with management, City Council, and residents. Your work will help to: Construct a new Fire Station Develop award-winning parks Maintain the City’s financial health Enhance transportation systems Build other vital City facilities We Want You

Equivalent education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skills are acceptable. Typically, this includes: Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited institution. Experience
Six years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, including at least two years in project management, administration, or supervision. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE Valid California Professional Civil Engineer license required. Reciprocity may be considered for out-of-state licenses, or registration can be obtained within 12 months of employment. Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
