Our Wireless Technology team is transforming the future of connectivity by building and enhancing the country's first virtualized, standalone 5G wireless network from scratch. Our network is free of the limitations of the past, and flexible to satisfy all the social, economic and transformative needs of the changing world.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview, which may include a live whiteboarding or technical assessment session.
As part of the Boost Mobile 5G SA Voice Core Engineering Team, this Engineer will join the team of passionate engineers with start-up spirit to deploy and debug DISH's standalone 5G network. This team focuses on the deployment of our IMS Core powered by Nokia and Mavenir. This team works in a live production environment, using CI/CD operations in order to test, debug, and deploy solutions. This position will contribute to ongoing process improvement reviews, identifying areas for automation and overall efficiency improvements to help increase service up-time and overall customer experience. This is a great opportunity for an individual to step on board a growing and financially strong start up.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the vendors to design solutions of the network functions in a cloud-native environment
Participate in the investigation of innovative 5G technologies to improve the network virtualization infrastructure
Involved in monitoring the system health of IMS core functions using KPIs and alarms
Ensure that solutions adhere to defined standards and best practices and/or assist in the development of these standards and best practices
Deploy and support IMS network functions over a public cloud standalone 5G network
Engage with vendor personnel to set up / validate new services and features as well as upgrades
Lead other engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in IMS functional areas
Possess extensive hands-on experience with the IMS Core Architecture, Application server and IMS related call-flows
Able to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with strict deadlines, both as an individual contributor and team player
Participates in knowledge transfer, documentation and information sharing while staying abreast of new technology/technical areas of IMS Domain
Should be available to support production issues, after hours as well as a rotational on-call
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering Telecommunications, technical degree, or an equivalent combination of highly related experience and education
8+ years of experience working within the Wireless industry on either the carrier or vendor side of the house
Experience with IMS Products such as ASBC, ISBC I/S - CSCF, TAS, HSS / IPSMGW, etc
Prior experience deploying and managing IMS in Tier I / II Carriers network
Prior experience validating IMS E2E call with detail call flow analysis
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and familiarity with TCP, UDP, SCTP, GTP, RADIUS, Mobile IP, SIP, Diameter protocols, and 5G interfaces
Working knowledge in a Virtualization platform based on a Cloud Native Principle
Familiarity with containers and relevant technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker or Openshift
Familiar with DevOps and CI/CD methodology
Knowledge of Protocol Analysis, Wireshark, NetScout, RADCOM or other similar tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter, capable of working independently, innovative and eager to learn state-of-the art technologies
Salary Ranges
Compensation: $110,100.00/Year - $170,900.00/Year
