We are in a period of unprecedented growth and are seeking a

Senior Network Engineer

to support our team out of our

Charlotte, NC

office.

Responsibilities & Duties Analyzing and designing from Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM) transport networks for ISPs. Implementing network designs for WDM networks and configuring equipment/related systems. Developing RFPs and RFQs and evaluating responses for the new transport systems. Commissioning WDM nodes as a part of an existing WDM network or as a part of a completely new network. Configuring Layer 1 and Layer 2 circuits over the transport network. Performing network upgrades and circuit cutovers. Directly working with ISPs to troubleshoot issues in existing WDM networks. Documenting and diagramming networks, relevant processes, and troubleshooting steps. Communicating technical concepts clearly and understandably. Keeping up with industry developments, new technologies, and best practices. Improving knowledge and expertise through independent research, practice, and industry-accepted certifications. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems. Similar or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requiring a high school diploma or GED. Network certifications are considered a plus. Consulting experience is a plus. Experience:

Requires five (5) years of experience in operating, troubleshooting, and/or designing telecommunication WDM transport networks. In-depth knowledge of optical transport, fiber technologies, WDM, and ROADM technologies. Experience with WDM optical design, including optical power and OSNR calculations. Hands-on engineering, commissioning, configuring, and troubleshooting experience with transport WDM equipment from vendors such as Ciena, Cisco, Infinera, Nokia, and related vendor element management systems. Understanding of networking concepts and IP networks. Experience with SONET networking is a plus. Proficiency with standard operations of Windows-based computers and Office product suite. Skills:

Work Schedule:
