The Assistant Principal of Ecorse High School will support the Principal in providing instructional leadership, fostering a positive school culture, and ensuring a safe, orderly, and equitable environment for all students and staff. This position plays a key role in advancing student achievement, improving attendance and behavior outcomes, and implementing strategic initiatives aligned with district goals. Primary Responsibilities: Assist in the leadership, development, and evaluation of instructional programs to meet the needs of all students. Monitor and enforce student attendance, discipline, and behavioral expectations through restorative and equitable practices. Serve as the building lead for MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) related to behavior and attendance. Collaborate with faculty, counselors, and families to promote college and career readiness. Assist in the supervision and evaluation of teaching and support staff under the district's evaluation framework. Support implementation of school improvement plans aligned with district priorities and the Michigan School Index. Coordinate student testing and assessment activities (e.g., PSAT, SAT, M-STEP, NWEA). Lead or support extracurricular programs, student activities, and school events. Foster community partnerships and build positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Respond to emergencies and provide leadership in school safety drills, crisis management, and daily operations. Promote a positive, inclusive school climate and serve as an advocate for equity and access. Required Qualifications: Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of successful secondary teaching or administrative experience. Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations and urban communities. Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and data-driven decision-making. Effective communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with restorative practices, PBIS, and trauma-informed approaches. Knowledge of school improvement processes and state accountability systems. Bilingual (English/Spanish) or multilingual proficiency is a plus. Experience leading staff professional development and teacher coaching.
