Lead Product Manager
to define strategy and oversee execution for Scribd’s Recommendations & Personalization team. You will develop a real-time personalization platform serving
200 million monthly visitors , with
1.2 billion recommendation impressions per month , across a corpus of
300 million documents . Using advanced algorithms, LLM-powered insights, and behavioral signals, you will deliver relevant content to help users explore and learn effectively. Your success involves setting a clear vision, defining meaningful metrics, and experimenting with features to enhance personalization and engagement, working closely with Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Design, and Machine Learning teams to turn strategy into reality. The ideal candidate combines technical fluency in ML/AI with seasoned product management experience and a proven ability to translate data insights into impactful products. Responsibilities: Develop and own a multi-year roadmap for recommendation and personalization features across various product surfaces. Collaborate with ML Engineering & Applied Research to implement cutting-edge retrieval and ranking algorithms. Establish and monitor key metrics related to subscription, retention, and lifetime value, using insights to guide product and model improvements. Balance short-term wins with long-term platform development aligned with Scribd’s AI strategy. Synthesize data, user feedback, and experiments to inform prioritization and design. Communicate requirements and progress clearly to stakeholders, securing buy-in at all levels. Requirements: 7+ years of product management experience, including 4+ years leading recommender systems or large-scale search/ranking in high-traffic environments. Proven success shipping ML-driven recommendation features that impact core business metrics. Deep understanding of retrieval algorithms, embeddings, feature stores, and customer journey reasoning. Ability to navigate ambiguity, shape multi-year visions, and deliver incremental wins. Exceptional communication skills for crafting product briefs and presenting to leadership. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience. Bonus Points: Proficiency with SQL and scripting languages like Python or R. Experience with LLM and GenAI-enhanced user experiences. Familiarity with ML Ops tools and workflows. Passion for democratizing knowledge and open access to information. At Scribd, compensation varies based on location and experience. In California, the range is $157,500–$246,000; outside California, $130,000–$233,500; in Canada, $165,000–$219,000 CAD.
