The Eagle Tavern in Greenfield Village is an 1850s era restaurant. The menu features seasonal dishes characteristic of southern Michigan at that time, made from real recipes from the era and prepared using traditional 19th-century methods. Our Eagle Tavern Server contributes to creating Michigan's most unique and authentic historic dining experience. In this role, you will be part of the amazing team who educate and entertain our guests in period clothing.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare facility for daily operations, complete set-up of tables, attend to and complete all other set-up and prep work
Straighten chairs and ensure all set-up equipment is put away before guests arrive
Ensures an outstanding guest experience
Possesses knowledge of menu descriptions and can effectively communicate them with guests including any special dietary concerns (i.e. vegan options)
Provides our guests with a historically accurate portrayal of a dining experience
Makes and serves beverages to guests
Serves meals and beverages professionally, clears tables properly, removes dishware from tables, and takes trays to breakdown area
Ensures accuracy of order placed and quality of food that is served to guests
Handles cash readily and knows prices
Interacts and communicates with guests and co-workers in a professional and friendly manner
Maintains appearance of serving section and kitchen area
Assumes responsibility for cleanliness of work station in keeping with the Dept. of Health & Sanitation guidelines
Maintains cleanliness of all restaurant areas
Perform assigned closing duties
Responsible for care and maintenance of historical clothing uniform
Handles and stores all equipment properly and with care
Adheres to The Henry Ford and the Food Service Department rules and policies at all times
Performs other activities as necessary and assigned
Acts as a team player, providing expertise within the team and with other team members as appropriate
Uses their best judgment when taking care of guests and promptly notifies management of any issues.
Your Qualifications
18 or more years old
Previous Server experience
Must have taken or be willing to take alcohol awareness training
Special Skills
Personable, works as part of a team
Enthusiastic and possesses good verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter with knowledge of suggestive selling techniques
Must be a hardworking team player that can take the initiative to prioritize work duties in a fast-paced environment
