What you can expect from this role
This program is a paid apprenticeship providing the education and skills necessary for a CMA career.
It is an entry-level position requiring no prior MA experience and offers orientation to the duties and responsibilities of a medical assistant through on-the-job training in clinical rotations, classroom instruction, continuing education, and four hours of paid study time weekly over the course of 7-8 months.
Transportation and flexibility will be required as MA-Ts do rotations at various clinics within the
Wood River
area.
Upon completion of the program, participants sit for a credentialing exam and become eligible for a CMA role.
Individuals accepted into the MA-T program are hired as full-time employees and are expected to complete the program and then work for a minimum of one year in a full-time CMA role at St. Luke's.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross
Experience
A minimum of six (6) months of healthcare experience, including but not limited to: Patient Specialist, CNA, phlebotomy, EMT, dental assisting, pharmacy tech, etc.
Direct patient care experience preferred
