Job Title: Supervisor, Security & Command Center (Day)
Location: Kansas City, MO
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM (with flexibility to work events and provide coverage when needed.
Starting Salary Range: $19.56 to $22.00 per hour
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art invites applications for a
Supervisor, Security & Command Center (Day)
to support the daily safety and security operations of our campus and collection. This role plays a key part in maintaining a secure environment for guests, staff, and artwork by monitoring systems, responding to incidents, and guiding the day shift team of security officers.
As a visible and steady presence in the Security & Command Center (SCC), the Supervisor ensures consistent coverage, reinforces emergency protocols, and coordinates directly with museum departments and evening supervisors to ensure a smooth handoff across shifts. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily SCC operations and ensure radio and surveillance systems are monitored effectively Adjust daily coverage and assist with scheduling changes Respond to incidents and support accurate reporting and documentation Reinforce security protocols and assist with onboarding/training new officers Provide courteous and professional service to staff and guests Coordinate hand-offs with the Night Supervisor and escalate issues to leadership as needed Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; some college or technical training preferred 2-3 years of experience in a security, safety, or facilities environment with 1 or more years of supervisory experience including, hiring and performance management. Familiarity with surveillance systems and radio communication protocols Current or ability to obtain Kansas City, MO Private Security License Basic First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain) Clear communication, reliability, and good judgment under pressure Why Work With Us
