Quality Assurance Engineer (Hardware)

Greater Boston (Essex County) As a Quality Assurance Engineer working in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of cutting-edge products. You will collaborate closely with various departments, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and sales, to align quality assurance activities with production schedules and customer requirements. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining robust quality assurance processes, analyzing product quality data, and implementing innovative strategies to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency. Process customer complaints and corrective action requests; verify received products, issue work orders for evaluation/repair, compile failure evaluation details, update database, perform root cause analysis, and prepare failure reports. Perform final inspection activities for OEM products, including preparing formal inspection reports. Perform final inspection for first article prototype builds. Perform the QAE role for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. Coordinate and conduct qualification activities on first article purchases (FAI). Perform instrumented testing on products and maintain measurements library. Assist in the preparation and revision of manufacturing work instructions. Assist in validating and documenting internal nonconformities. Assist with in-process inspection in metal fabrication areas, such as machining centers, forming centers, and welding. Support ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) with a focus on continuous improvement. Perform internal ISO 9001 audits and support external audits. Work with Manufacturing Engineering to identify and deliver process improvements through methodologies and innovation. Monitor QMS performance to drive data-driven decisions and proactively identify trends. Report on quality key performance indicators and implement corrective actions. Interface with Materials Management and suppliers to address vendor quality issues. Support product material compliance initiatives such as REACH, ROHS, WEEE, Conflict Minerals, etc. Requirements:
BS degree in an Engineering discipline. Experience in an ISO 9000 manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with sheet metal design and manufacturing practices is a plus. Experience with electromechanical assembly and testing practices. Skilled in using mechanical measuring instruments and interpreting drawings for complex inspections. Experience with electronic test equipment. Ability to present data logically and organized. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Professional and positive demeanor reflecting well on the company.
