The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking qualified staff with diverse backgrounds to serve the Bronx community and promote fair justice. Currently, there are openings for Trial Preparation Assistants in the Homicide Bureau and Trial Division to assist with case preparation from intake to final disposition.

Job Responsibilities

Compile, analyze, redact, and reproduce case documents for discovery compliance and case preparation.

Prepare and file documents.

Retrieve documents and records timely.

Assist in preparing hearing/trial exhibits and discovery for trial.

Convert instruments to information promptly.

Retrieve documents from law enforcement, hospitals, and other entities.

Communicate effectively with different agencies.

Locate and retrieve property maintained by NYC Police Dept.

Perform legal research.

Engage with witnesses and communicate with them.

Secure affidavits and prepare court orders, motions, warrants, subpoenas, etc.

Work directly with ADAs on specialty cases.

Assist ADAs during court trials and observations.

Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of community work or related activities; or

Equivalent education and/or experience.

Preferred Skills

Baccalaureate degree preferred; high school diploma with four years of law-related work experience acceptable.

Valid NY driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience, maintained during employment.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Discretion and integrity for handling confidential investigations.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
