Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is hiring a
Satellite Payload Testbed Software Lead
to support the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program in El Segundo, CA. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge satellite technology in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Duties:
Lead the design, development, and leadership of spacecraft and space environment simulation platforms to enable test-as-you-fly capabilities for software development, acceptance testing, mission rehearsal, and customer training. Serve as a technical subject matter expert in developing and maintaining complex hybrid software and hardware systems that support current and future testbed capabilities for satellite payloads. Lead the development and documentation of testbed and simulation software requirements and software interfaces. Define and direct Software Development and Verification Plans to support the delivery of high-assurance, certified flight software. Ensure compliance with Software Quality, Product Security, and Enterprise Design Practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Resolve complex software interactions across simulated and emulated subsystems, including payloads, power and thermal systems, communications and encryption, command and data handling, guidance and navigation, ground control, mission operations, and redundancies. Advise program stakeholders on simulation system-level architecture and maintain regular communication with key internal and external partners. Lead integration efforts with geographically distributed partners to ensure successful incorporation of developmental software into El Segundo-based simulation architectures. Provide mentorship and technical leadership to early-career team members. Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use. Active Secret Clearance (or higher). 10 or more years of experience developing commercial software using a compiled programming language such as C, C++, C#, or Java, with additional exposure to scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript. 5 or more years of experience in the space or aerospace domain, with a focus on space vehicles (e.g., satellites, launch systems, orbiters), ground systems, and associated hardware components. 3 or more years of experience leading software teams as a team lead. Knowledge and experience in software and hardware integration, processor technologies, virtualization, and complex model-driven design, with the ability to define and lead the modernization of legacy technology stacks. Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science from an accredited institution. Experience with UML or SysML and modeling tools such as Cameo and MATLAB. Agile software development experience. Experience using a distributed source code version control system such as Git along with platforms like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket in a DevSecOps environment.
