Public Benefit Specialist
The Public Benefit Specialist will be responsible for providing Public Benefit application assistance to the Refugee Support Services clients and will be responsible for determining clients' eligibility for assistance by obtaining documentation required. Assess Refugee Support Services clients' eligibility for public benefits. Assist refugee clients in applying for Medicaid, SNAP and TANF. Liaise with internal case workers and external welfare agency employees to facilitate benefits application process. Explain program requirements, application procedures and verification needs to clients and answer questions regarding the public benefits application process. Attend Office of New Americans' Monthly Case Manager meetings and attend any meetings/trainings required by supervisors or funders. Ensure all services provided are properly recorded and documented in case management database. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Job Requirements: Associate's degree preferred. Will accept 2 years experience working with refugees in lieu of degree Previous experience working in a non-profit, government setting preferred Experience working with immigrants and refugee who have limited English proficiency preferred CCAN offers a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package for employees, with an 80/20% cost split between employers (80) and employees (20).
