Strategic Contract Manager

Key Responsibilities: Serve as a strategic partner to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders by overseeing the negotiation, review, and execution of a variety of agreements, including NDAs, and business agreements that define and outline terms of the relationship between Petco and vendors. Lead a high performing team of contract analysts, developing KPIs and supporting their growth. Identify and assess contractual and business risks; communicate legal and compliance issues to management and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies, utilizing internal and external resources for support. Ensure contracts are aligned with corporate policies, business objectives, and regulatory requirements. Support contract negotiations and prepare summaries of contract exceptions for internal review. Monitor contract performance, ensuring adherence to timelines, milestones, and agreed-upon obligations. Develop and maintain contract templates, tools, and repositories to ensure consistency, version control, and compliance across all agreements. Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Merchandising, Operations, and Compliance to ensure contracts reflect strategic goals and operational capabilities. Support amendments, renewals, and restructuring of existing agreements in partnership with leader as necessary. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reporting mechanisms to measure contract effectiveness and compliance. Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on contract management best practices and compliance procedures. Drive continuous improvement in contract management processes, systems, and documentation practices. Qualifications: Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience in contract management, legal operations, or commercial negotiations. Strong understanding of contract law, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Proven ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational abilities. Proficiency with contract management systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with tools like DocuSign, Salesforce, or CLM platforms is a plus.
