Substation Mechanic
Working within Entergy's Safety Rules, perform routine & emergency maintenance and repairs on substation equipment. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Perform diagnostic testing of substation equipment; breakers, transformers, batteries, cables, etc. Perform substation switching and grounding procedures. Perform construction activities of installing all substation equipment. Perform inspections of substation equipment. Install, maintain, repair, operate and remove switching station and substation equipment. Maintain switching stations, substation buildings, structures and grounds, including customers' installations. Inspect, adjust, maintain, test, repair or replace all types of circuit breakers and gang operated disconnecting switches, batteries, power transformers, power rectifiers, and station type regulators. Perform wiring and maintenance work in substations. Minimum Requirements: Minimum Education & Experience: Preferred: Associate's degree or equivalent work experience. Substation maintenance and substation construction experience. Substation Mechanic I: With Associate's degree: 0 - 1 years of experience Without Associate's degree: 0 - 2 years of experience Substation Mechanic II: With Associate's degree: at least 1 - 3 years of experience Without Associate's degree: at least 2 - 4 years of experience Substation Mechanic III: With Associate's degree: at least 3 years of experience Without Associate's degree: at least 4 years of experience Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Understanding of mechanical concepts and good mechanical skills. Able to read and understand the following: electrical one-line, schematic and wiring diagrams; technical manuals and instruction books; mechanical and civil construction drawings. Ability to understand technical manuals and instruction books. Completion of the necessary training modules as set forth by the Safety and Training department. Must be available for 24 hour call out and extended hours as necessary. Knowledgeable in MS Office skills. Dependable and reliable, and able to work as a member of a team. Self-motivated with ability to make decisions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Any Certificates, Licenses, Etc.: Must be EEI CAST Test recommended Candidates selected to take the CAST test will be invited via e-mail and may need to monitor their spam email. Must have or be able to obtain a CDL operator's license and be able to operate all vehicles and equipment in the department. Preferred: DOT medical certification CDL operator's license
