Staff SW Engineer

Visa U.S.A. Inc, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff SW Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to: Work cross-functionally to invent, design, build, and test software assets. Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Test Engineers, Devops, Operations, and other team members from the product ideation stage to production deployment and support of highly functional, secure, scalable, and robust software solutions. Provide full-stack development to the design of backend database and queries, API creation and consumption, and contribute to frontend UI development. Work independently with minimal insight to develop software that conforms to Visa's high standards of security, quality, performance, resiliency, and compliance. Lead the software engineering team to develop, test and document software programs. Provide technical oversight and guidance to team members working on those applications. Take ownership and be responsible for the design and delivery of one or more components of a project. Translate complex technical concepts into clear and understandable language. Independently create multiple design artifacts for projects and present designs to team members and other stakeholders. Provide mentorship and guidance to more junior team members. Contribute technical innovations back to the Visa-wide reusable assets repositories. Implement single page application using React. Support test engineers and operation teams in troubleshooting, defect research, issue root cause analysis, and other related activities. Design, develop, and implement modifications and corrections to the existing software, including the development of debugging routines. Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of engineering applications and products. Develop database queries or code that generate queries and resolve bugs found in existing codebases. Perform code reviews to verify changes meet development requirements before deploying the code in development environments. Conduct business and technical analyses, code reviews, and unit testing. Implement and produce technical documentations of solutions for new developments, system enhancements, and production support. Basic Qualifications: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, followed by 7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation. Five years of experience in Core Java, Java web application development, and RESTful web services; Five years of experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and build tools like Maven; Building and consuming REST APIs and utilizing asynchronous messaging with Kafka; Frontend Technologies, including JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, NodeJS, TypeScript, Angular, AngularJS, ReactJS, Redux, HTML, and CSS for building Single Page Applications; AI Technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and conversational AI; Python, GitHub, Bitbucket, or Oracle Server; Containerization and Orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes for developing and deploying applications; Working with large datasets using Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, and Hive; Database Technologies Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL, and SQL/PL-SQL databases; and Architecting secure, scalable solutions and developing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines Additional Information

Worksite: Austin, TX This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs. Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel. Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers. U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $155,709.00 USD to $199,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity.
