Provide consulting services and offer expertise and guidance on Operational Technologies (OT) transformation especially around Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), Virtual Power Plant (VPP), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and Enterprise OT-IT Integration. Support the delivery of Utility Transformational programs and projects in these areas with participation and consultation in technical solution delivery strategy, solutions architecture, business and systems integration. This role will also work closely with the Principal Consultants and Project Directors to manage and deliver on contractual obligations, client satisfaction, pull through business opportunities, and develop trusted, long-term client relationships. The Manager brings experience delivering transformational-related projects for utilities as a utility employee, working for utility infrastructure or software platform vendor, or in a consulting capacity for utilities. The preferred candidate will be conversant in the business, functional, and technical aspects of electric utilities, including bringing direct experience with utility software systems delivery methodologies, power systems T&D infrastructure, distributed energy resources, and OT/IT systems. As a Manager, you will manage and/or participate in a team of business and technology consultants in defining strategies and roadmaps, developing solutions and requirements, and supporting clients with their digital transformation needs (technology, business processes, data, and organizational readiness). Much of the client delivery work will be done remotely through online, virtual meetings with Black & Veatch team members and our clients. Travel to the client site is on an as needed basis, but typically no more than 1-2 times per month for 2-3 days per trip. The Team

Key Responsibilities

Manage client engagement for complex, transformational programs in advanced distribution infrastructure Support development of business and technical strategy, business case and implementation plan for dispatchable DER, DER/DR programs, VPP and DERMS Lead client interviews and facilitate engagement among stakeholders in understanding DER management operating model, DERMS solution architecture, and Advanced Distribution Management Infrastructure Work with clients to document and/or discover current and future states business processes Provide functional and technical expertise in various aspects of Digital Grid, Operational Technology, and ADMS/DERMS Perform and manage technical project work such as developing solution concepts, review of vendors' design documents, requirements traceability Support business requirements definition, request for proposal development Support proposal evaluation, selection process, statement of work development and vendor contract negotiation Lead and/or participate in system testing Support development of project plans, key milestones, and project control structure Transfer knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others' knowledge and skill levels Bring strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and negotiate resolutions to complex problems Be a change advocate and overcoming barriers to change for our clients and team member, navigate/resolve unforeseen challenges, effectively balancing scope, schedule, resources, and quality Manage meetings with defined agendas, effective group participation, time management, and action items tracking Develop professional quality work products at each stage of the project management lifecycle, leveraging, building on, and adding to existing Black & Veatch delivery templates, processes, and artifacts for project management and solution delivery Contribute to the business development process as a subject matter expert (SME) Support proposals and business development with utility clients Create and/or support publication of thought leadership in areas of Digital Grid, Operational Technologies, and DERMS Management Responsibilities

Individual Contributor Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Previous experience of participating in DERMS through the complete lifecycle including requirements development, design, systems integration & implementation and testing Deep knowledge of System Architecture concepts, IT/Computing infrastructure, Telemetry infrastructure & protocols, RTUs, User Interface & Situational Awareness Trends, Information Storage & Retrieval technologies, and Operational Data Historian Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, Information Systems, or similar Technical domain 7 years of experience in business and technology consulting, relevant product management, and/or project implementation services as part of a DERMS vendor team Extensive Knowledge of Electric utilities operations functions and associated processes Knowledge of DER standards including IEEE 1547, CIM 61968 / 61970, OpenADR, SEP2.0, IEEE 2030.5 Hands-on experience in DERMS, DER and/or VPP Familiarity with major industry trends and OT/ADMS/DERMS vendor solutions Ability to travel up to 50% Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience 7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
