Work involves clerical work and administrative functions associated with warehouse activities, including receipt of goods through agency-wide procurement system, shipping and receiving, maintaining general orderliness of the warehouse, inventory management, and coordinating workloads during the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor. May train others. Work under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally applicable to this position.https://hr.sao.texas.gov/Compensation/MilitaryCrosswalk/MOSC_PropertyManagementandProcurement.pdfApplicants must fully complete the summary of experience to determine if minimum qualifications are met.ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Operate a box truck, pickup truck, forklift, electric pallet jack, manual pallet jack, two-wheel dolly, and other material handling equipment to receive, deliver, and store in the agency complex's warehouse and other storage locations. Maintain records, track incoming and outgoing shipments, compare clerical computations with a physical count of items in stock; adjust errors in counts; prepare inventory reports. Respond to a variety of requests for action and information from warehouse users and deliver merchandise. Assist with the pickup of surplus property from divisions and locations as requested. Ship packages by parcel and freight. Conduct physical inventories of stock. Provide information on purchase orders, location, or budgetary units of agency inventory items to internal and external customers over the phone and in person. Utilize procurement system for item count verification, compliance with specifications, and purchase order confirmation. Assist and resolve unusual or complex problems involving Warehouse and General Stores policies and procedures. Maintain the security of the warehouse and accountability of entrusted assets. Assist General Stores with their daily operations, including the intake of confiscated weapons and order fulfillment. May train, guide, and assist others. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTSEducation - Graduation from a standards senior-high school is required.Experience - Minimum of one (1) year experience receiving, issuing, and/or storing stock is required.Licensure and/or Certification - Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.Regulatory knowledge - Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures. Bookkeeping and/or basic accounting principles and of methods and procedures used in keeping inventory records. Perform work to acceptable quality standards.Mechanical skills - After training safely operate a forklift, electric pallet jack, two-wheel dolly, and any other material handling equipment. Safely drive a state vehicle.Inventory Knowledge - Basic knowledge of inventory control procedures used in receiving, storing, and issuing stock. Ability to maintain complex stock records, to maintain stock levels, and prepare inventory status reports. Technology (computers/hardware/software/operating systems) - Must possess appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Organizational and Prioritization Skills - Must be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment; able to meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, timeliness or professionalism. Ability to classify and identify stock by sight. Ability to plan and implement the arranging and rotating of stock on a first-in, first-out basis.Presentation/Communication Skills - Must be able to construct and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations to a variety of audiences and/or individuals.Interpersonal Skills - Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.Safety - Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices.Confidentiality and Protected Information - Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations, and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information.PHYSICAL and/or ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those encountered and/or necessary for the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
