Location: Sioux Falls, SD Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Pay Range: $32.25 - $48.50 Position Highlights
This position will oversee gel electrophoresis, LCMS, and a variety of other testing. Schedule: Days from 5:00 am - 3:30 pm (4 x 10); Monday - Friday. Day off will vary. No weekends or holiday rotation. This position is eligible for Avera's Student Loan Repayment program which helps you pay off your loans and save money. Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster. Serves as the subject matter expert in the assigned area of the laboratory. Under the guidance of the laboratory leadership, assures effective utilization and quality services. Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties in the laboratory. Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory services, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance, test result correlation and clinical laboratory continuing education. Performs laboratory testing in the respective area of responsibility as appropriate. What You Will Do
Performs the duties of a Medical Laboratory Scientist in a competent, effective manner. Monitors and assists the laboratory leader with maintaining compliance to policies and protocols, daily shift assignments and scheduling of assigned staff, intra-sectional communications, and workload and staff productivity. Assures the technical management of the assigned section(s) in the areas of resource utilization (supplies and equipment, maintenance of current procedural and equipment protocol, new procedure and new equipment evaluation and recommendations to the medical director, laboratory operations manager, and laboratory director. Responsible for quality control and proficiency testing protocol, validation of new reagent lots and establishes new QC ranges. Performs preventative maintenance and corrective action protocol and new procedure/equipment in-service and training. Responsible for interdepartmental and clerical support activities of the assigned section regarding: Coordinates and communicates with medical director, laboratory operations manager, and/or laboratory supervisor. Responsible for interdepartmental communication, promoting procedural compliance, and problem resolution, and clerical and computer operations/protocol. Coordinates the educational, training, and development activities of the assigned section regarding: Assisting with hiring of new staff, new equipment/procedure in-service training, new employee orientation, delegation of responsibilities of staff, team building and motivational dynamics, and recommending and scheduling of professional improvement activities for self and staff.
