St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health, Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a (Part Time) Cook to join our Food & Nutrition team! The Cook is responsible to supervise the hot food production and other areas as assigned. Schedule: Part Time 16 Hours Shift: Rotating Flexibility to work weekends and holidays. A line cook is a kitchen staff member primarily responsible for preparing, chopping, mixing, and cooking food items according to recipes at a designated station on the kitchen line, ensuring dishes are cooked to the proper standards and plated efficiently, often under the supervision of a sous chef or head chef; their duties include maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety regulations at their station. Key responsibilities of a line cook: Maintaining cleanliness and organization at their assigned cooking station. Ensuring food is cooked to the correct doneness and quality standards. Arranging cooked food on plates according to presentation guidelines. Monitoring and managing ingredients at their station to prevent waste. Adhering to proper food handling and sanitation practices. Collaborating effectively with other line cooks, prep cooks, and chefs to maintain a smooth workflow. Cutting, chopping, measuring, and prepping ingredients as needed for cooking. Grilling, frying, sauting, steaming, or baking assigned dishes according to recipes and specifications. Skills and qualifications for a line cook: Proficient knife skills, understanding of cooking techniques like grilling, sauting, and frying. Familiarity with various food items and their proper handling. Performing tasks efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ensuring consistent quality and presentation of dishes. Ability to stand for extended periods and work quickly. Collaborating effectively with other kitchen staff members.
